Back Yard Garden/ No Deer/ No Rabbits

This is the first time in this house that I have tried to plant a vegetable garden.
I get a good deal of sun in my back yard and because I have a pool, I have a
high fence that surrounds it. That means no pesky deer or rabbits that eat the
blooms off of my flowers in my other beds. My backyard pots now have veggies
in them, eggplant, squash, peppers, and cucs. So far so good!

Backyard extras, Day Lilys, newly planted Caladium bulbs just coming up and Danube Hydrangea.
Next planting, Snakeroot or cimicifuga racemosa. It took me two days to find it to plant it now,
not in the fall. I am exploring all things shade, that bloom or have color to mix with the typical
shade guys, hosta, ferns and ground covers.

I am posting chairs that I photographed at Queen City Marketplace,

need of new dining room for dining room that we are in the process
of redecorating. My fav is the first photo, but I would love the faux
bamboo for my self. I would paint them a fun color. Sorry the pictures

are so dark, bad lighting in that place......

Flower Favorites

I forgot to name the beautiful flowers that I brought in to the store from my garden. You are looking at
my cone flowers, honeysuckle, and my all time favorites oak leaf hydrangea and pinky hydrangea. I love
the look of hydrangea so much that I am thinking about planting some around the pool where I had to
very scary  prickly yews removed, so that while I am sunning by the pool, I can admire their beauty.

Flow Blue English Porcelain

This week in Staunton we had a group of Antique car collectors in town. Friday was their last full
day in Staunton, I had a gentleman come in my store who was interested in the large collection of
Flow Blue that I had displayed in the center of my store. I love china, especially plates, anything
old and hand painted. To find a man interested in china threw me for a loop. This gentleman has
one of the largest collections of flow blue, the collection shown at the Winterthur Museum is the
largest. He lost part of his collection to his first wife and is now building his collection back to what
it was. He bought 11 pieces from me including, cups and saucers, a three piece covered butter
dish, soup bowls, a pitcher and a gravy boat with with a bottom dish. What is flow blue, it is a
style of white porcelain that originated in the Regency era, around 1820, among the Staffordshire
potters of England. The name flow blue came from the blue glaze that "flowed" during the firing

process. Enjoy the pictures of a couple of the pieces that I have left. I love china........

Pictured pieces- platters, salt plates, covered vegetable , vegetable dish, soup bowls
and the company stamp on the back of one of the pieces.

Painted Pieces of Furniture

I am posting a few pieces of furniture from my store that have
been painted to enhance their appearance. Some pieces were
painted by the manufacturer, some had damage to the wood and
were painted to hide this, and a few were painted by Dawn in a
decorative manner. The paint selection has come a long way. I
have a few pieces in the store that I need to paint myself, I am

interested in trying a milk base paint.
