Fun Times at Queen City Marketplace

Things are changing again at Queen City Marketplace, we moved the spaces
around. Fresh look and new items......
The garden section was moved to the first floor.

I changed my window to feature a dining room table display, always worked
at the other location!

My second space on the main floor got a much needed move...

And we expanded the Fabric/Sewing section on the second floor....

As Spring Makes It's Official Arrival

Thing are starting to pop up in the yard as Winter
will finally say goodbye and Spring is here to stay!

Ferns making there debut. Fiddlehead and Painted Fern.

My all time love, Bleeding Heart.

Fragrant Lily of the Valley.

The start of the Iris, much more to come.

One of the first variety of Columbine, another all time favorite.

Two cute jackets I ordered from Stein Mart to wear as coats until it
warms up, one is off white and long with pockets and the other is a collarless
red long jacket with pockets.

Fun Spring pieces I purchased for Spring to wear to Graduations, Work and
what ever else I may need. Black and tan D' Orsay Stuart Weitzman knock offs
from Belk, pencil pattern skirts from Anthropologie and Mango and Sam and Libby
shoes for Target.

Last but not least, my daughters Graduation present from Sweet Briar College,
a black pearl bracelet. She already has a white pearl necklace and bracelet. The
one on the left I bought on Etsy, 7 3/4" mm Tahitian Pearls with SS clasp for $90
on Etsy and the other one I found on Ebay, Freshwater Pearl Baroque Peacock Black
9mm with SS clasp for $8.00. I bought both and will choose one for her, or she will
choose, both really pretty, but the $8.00 to me is the bomb. What do I know.

Spring Window for Queen City Marketplace

Last Monday I worked on a new Spring window
for Queen City Marketplace......

I pulled bright colorful Spring like things from as many of the Vendors I could find.

After this cold winter, we needed a bright, fresh new look to get us ready for a warm
up!

 I pulled bright pillows, Easter baskets, asparagus plates, bright china, Easter outfits,
anything in a pastel color.

And it worked, we have attracted customers to come into the store because of the
windows and we have also sold thing out of the windows. Just a small change to
attract business.

Orchids in Bloom

Even if it is cold outside, I have orchids in bloom inside
the house.

The orchid in the front room is beautiful.

The orchid on my dressing table that I enjoy each morning as I put
my makeup on, it has been blooming all month.

This orchid in the study will be opening up soon.

And in the kitchen I have one orchid that is slowly coming along and two amaryllis
that will open up soon as well. While it is slowly warming up to Spring and flowers
outside. I am blessed with a warm home and beautiful blooms inside!

Queen City Marketplace

Last week we set up the third floor here at
Queen City Marketplace in Staunton as a
staging area for local real estate people to
come in and rent the furniture and accessories
that we have here for their staging homes and
projects. We will charge a rental fee, 2 month
min., for the items. We will have our mover, Bruce,
do the pick up and delivery. Just another way for us
to make a little money...

Our First Big Snow

Yesterday, we had our first big snow. It started about 10:30 and it came fast.
We had lucked out on all the snow that hit up north, I was keeping my fingers
crossed that we would make it to Spring without big snow fall. I left work and
headed my car in the parking lot. Cars were sliding everywhere. My plan was
to drive two blocks to the Stonewall Jackson's Parking Garage and leave my car
overnight. Drove straight there, no hills, no turns and made it safe and sound.
Walked another two blocks home and hunkered down for the big snow.

 What a difference a day makes, came out about noon to take pictures and shovel my
way out. To keep the kitchen warm, I made Oatmeal Peanutty Cookie treats and a clear
broth soup with fresh herds celery and garlic.

 These treats will give me energy to go get my car out of the garage and to dig out
a place to put it in front of the house so that I can get to work tomorrow. Kind of
nice to have a snowcation day!
