New Projects for the End of the Year

I went over to Ross Stores to get a large marbleized tray that I had seen to help organize
my work station/ my den were I do most of my decorating work and my Ebay selling. I also
found the cute little Lucite tray to organize my pens and scissors.

It is time to reupholster and paint this ottoman that I bought from Big lots years ago. The fabric I
found on Robert Allen's Outlet and now I need to find 4 1/2 yards of trim to go with it. And speaking
of upholstering, I had my upholster, Marvin Courtney of Courtney's Upholstery, redo this pretty
Martha Washington Chair I bought from a thrift store in a vintage toile fabric I bought from a vendor
at QCM.

You can see the before in my posts of my spaces in the Nov. 9th 2017 post picture 8 and 9 in
the stripe fabric and front and center in the post March 8th 2018. The vendor is Nanny June Vintage.
This is my fabric stash that desperately needs organizing, my daughter says that it makes
me look like a hoarder and I finally found a shade at Ross, a Style Craft Shade, for my brass
lamp so that I can list it for sale.

Last thing to write about and this is a big one.

I sold this book on Ebay today and I wanted to see where it is going and the name of the buyer
is Eddie Ross, shipping to Pennsylvania to EddieRossLLC, what? Is this the famous Eddie Ross
the decorator, I had to Google Eddie Ross LLC to find out. I was right, I just sold my book to the
dercorator Eddie Ross, I have followed him like forever. This made my day.

A Little Bit About My Christmas

My Christmas started on Monday. My children drove up from Richmond so that
we could spend some time together exchanging gifts, sipping champagne and catching
up. Real conversations without communicating by text. There was also a piece I had in
storage, a desk , that my daughter needed for her office. I have so much in storage now
from when I left Queen City that I was glad to  let her have it.

I cannot have a tree in this house, there is no room, so I select my favorite ornaments
and have them placed around the house. Here is the den....

A votive that was a gift and a caroler I brought back from Stockholm.

More votive, a candle from the line I carry and a nativity scene.
My kitchen table.

Christmas cards in the dining room and pretty ornaments on the table.

Decorations on my French tables in my small front hall.

Decorating and presents in the living room.
An amazing Smoked Trout Spread that I made to enjoy with champagne.

I am reading a cookbook, Ann Green Good Taste, that I received as a gift from my Mom last
night at our Christmas dinner. Very clean healthy cooking.

A Beauty of a Snow Storm

So we new that we might get a little snow. They said it was going to be a couple of
inches, but that the worse would by pass us. They were wrong. When I woke up this morning
it was starting to come down. I high tailed it to Food Lion and got what I needed in case it
gets worse and I am snowed in for a couple of days. The grocery store was pure mayhem, my
check out guy said he doesn't see why everyone is panicking, it is going to stop snowing soon.
He was also wrong. I snapped these pictures this afternoon from my porch, and Mandy's
bathroom break, before the sun set.

A good day to stay in and get things done while watching Christmas Shows.

It's Time to Start Decorating for Christmas

I was waiting for the end of November and the first of December to take all
the Fall decorations down and start my Christmas decorating. It is a fun slow
process that really sets the tone for a warm and seasonal house, all tucked in for
the winter months with a little sparkle and glitter.

Last Monday I went on a search for some Paper Whites, I had seen some at my local
Foodlion, potted and blooming but they had fallen over. So I went by Honey Bee Florist
and asked the owner to order me some potted Paper Whites and went by to day to pick them
up. i had several to pick from and she even added some moss to cover the dirt.

Today I also went by Big Lots to look at their Christmas decorations, I was looking for
some fake greenery picks and found these.

I needed some thing to act as a starter for my urns at my front door, I already have the existing
ivy, I just wanted to add to it with some greens for Christmas.

I remembered that my Mom lost a lot tree limbs during our last ice storm and had offered me
some of her Magnolia, so Mandy and I went over to my Mom's to clip some greens. I got the
Magnolia with the red seeded pods and some of her Mahonia Holly and filled the back of my car.
I was pretty happy with the results, I may leave them as they are or latter add a bow.

I also found some Christmas place mats at TJ Maxx to put me in the mood.
More on this Christmas decorating adventure latter.

Shopping The Shops and an Ice Storm

Recently I have been trying to sell more of my stuff. I have purged my dressing room,
cleaned out closets and emptied my storage boxes. As I have written before, I have antique
spaces at The Staunton Antique Center were I sell things large and small, some things I
have re purposed and a lot of it I also sell online.

My Ebay shop is listed under ,mmcelroy313, and  have listed more than 100 items, it is
a little bit of everything from my shops to my closet.

The Thibaut wallpaper book I no longer use, the egg plate sold this
week to a teacher in upstate New York and the jewelry was in a jewelry box
I bought on Ebay.

Vintage Ralph Lauren blazer I bought on Etsy, a dining room table I bought
from a neighbor, and yes the picture was taken in my dining room and a
group of discontinued fabric samples from Kravet.
I also have several items listed on my Etsy shop, a little over 30 items, under my
name, Margaret McElroy, were you can list anything vintage, self made, including
clothing. Here are a few things from my shop.

You can also find me on Instagram under, Margaret M Mcelroy, were I love
to post pictures of my daily life and I love to pin on Pinterest under, Margaret Mcelroy Interior Design.
And on a last note, we had a cold snap come through late Wednesday night, I
could hear the ice cycles hit my roof into the morning. As the storm got worse, this is what fell in my back yard.

Limbs fell everywhere, exposing the top of the trees and even a large nest. Now we clean
up the mess. More pictures of the storm on my Instagram page  and please check out my antique
booths when you are in Staunton and shop my online shops from your sofa at the comfort of
your home.
