The Search for New Draperies for My Bedroom

I have been thinking about replacing my draperies in my master bedroom.
I got prices from The Silk Drapery Company on line and they sell by the panel
which turned out to be over $500 dollars, I could by the material and have them
made for less. At Ballard Design I looked at pretty white panels with a Greek key
in grey, with my designer discount, over $400. The curtains that I have now are
Chris Madden for JCP that I bought years ago when I first moved up here. They are
inter lined with flannel, white with embroidery and machine washable. They have served
their purpose with each move.

J C Penney still has a good selection of curtains, not always in the store, but on line and
delivered to the store for pick up. I bought pretty lined cafe curtains for my laundry room
in natural when I moved in here and love them. I have a client that wants black out shades
for her new home and they have them, they also still do blinds, cut to order. So, I needed to
head up to The Daytons Farmers Market to have a lamp prepaired and decided to head over
to Harrisonburg's  to Tuesday Morning and was shocked to find an unbelievable selection
of draperies. I found a pair of sheers I loved by Philby and Rowe and thought they would be
great for the bedroom. But then I saw these white brocade panels by Charisma on sale. So here is my plan....

Sorry the pictures are dark, it is the afternoon and I am to lazy to retake them. So my
plan is to have solid side panel on the side. This is the front of this house and I need
privacy and may need to close them if it is to cold out side. In the center I will have a
faux flat roman, right now it is the embroidered panels hanging on the rod. I want to get
valance rods for the sheers to hang at the top of the window and near the bottom to create
the look of a flat roman under the solid panels. The pair of solid drapes where $39.99 each
pair and then 20% off, they are heavy and quality fabric, the sheer pair cost $22.99, so in all
it was a great save for me and I love the change in the look.

Rugs, Old and New, Placing Around the House

New year, new look and a great time to find some
deals on the internet. With a coupon from Wayfair,
I purchased a new rug for the hallway, brighter colors
and a bigger size.

The rug is by Safavieh and helps hide the horrid tile, it's a rental.
The old rug in the hallway went to the downstairs 1st floor
bath room to soften up the floor.

I purchased it from TJ Maxx and it is by Dynamic Rugs. The dressing room rug was
also in the hallway briefly, but it was way to thick and it made it hard to open the front
door.

It is a very pretty virgin wool rug from Tuesday Morning. The bedroom rug went to
the guest room and the guest room rug went to my bedroom. The fit was better and it gives
you a pop of color and warmth without covering the pretty floors.

Both rugs came from TJ Maxx and are  by Safavieh Vintage and Dynamic Rugs.
The large rug in the den is from Wayfair with a good coupon and is also Safavieh
Vintage. I wanted a large rug for this room because i spend a lot of time in here and
wanted most of the floor covered.

The runners from Ballard are thick neutral wool hand hooked rugs from India.

The sisal rug by the door it to catch the dirt from my shoes and matches the kitchen rug
in the next room.The kitchen sisal rug had been in my den for a coupe of years and fits
great here under the table.

It softens the cold tile, again, it's a rental. I took all my Dhuries  into Queen City
Marketplace to sell.

New Pieces for the Den

I am still working on my den. I found two new lamps for the den on Ebay.
They are a pair of beautiful Asian lamps by As You Like It, a company from the
'90's with stone fish finials and the shades are from Lowes. Big improvement from
the old Home Goods Lamps.

I replaced the heavy dark brown table topper and quilted table skirt with a lighter
cream burlap fringed table skirt from Ballard Design.

I still need to steam the wrinkles out, don't judge me! I will eventually replace the fabric
on the ottoman, these are a few choices.

 This is my favorite and the most expensive one, of coarse.

 I bought on Ebay an antique wood and bamboo collapsible book shelf for my books
and will use the white cubes for fabric samples and files. Still trying to organize the room.
Half den, half decorating office.

The last purchase was a pretty flocked pillow from Tuesday morning that I picked
up while I was on a job in Harrisonburg.

Staging with Accessories at The Charleston Townes Apartments in Harrisonburg

Yesterday I drove to Harrisonburg to install my second staging job for Matchbox
Reality at The Charleston Townes Apartment model unit. This space had been
done four years ago and needed updating. The old colors were dark and faded
and needed a bright new look. I used as much of the old stuff as I could, a lot of
it ended up hidden in closets.

This big piece of art was my inspiration. I went by Pier 1 the day they showed me the unit they
wanted up dated. Sorry, I didn't take before and after photos. Anyway, I went to Pier 1 for inspiration,
and saw this big canvas in the clearance section at 75% off. Pier 1 stored it for me until the unit was
ready and I was doing my installation. When I went back to get it, it was way larger than I remembered.
I had taken a picture of it for the colors but never measured it. So typical of me. We had to strap it to
the top of the car and I almost lost it at one point getting from point A to point B.

The furniture is from Martin's Home Furnishings and I reused the lamps, the darker decor and
mixed it in with my brighter additions I the living area. Love the cool rug I got from Ballard Design

  This is the dining area and kitchen area. I added orchids to an existing wall pocket, repurposed
a few plants and a bi apple object with my mix of things.

This is the deck off of the living area. The rug was in the living area so I brought t out here,
added a few colorful pillows from Pier 1 to the white pillows and cushions and used some
of the old accessories for the table. The living area and kitchen are on the second floor. The
unit has four bedrooms, four and a half baths and two laundry rooms.

The male room, before it was black, white and red themed. This is more of a
cool spa like feel.

Here is the girls room and bathroom, a lot brighter than the previous one. I forgot to take
pictures of the other bathrooms and the cool suzani runner I found for the front hall from
Tuesday Morning. That rug I wanted for myself.

A few more pictures I found of the work in progress. The job took six and a half hours,
with a few runs to Tuesday Morning, The Dollar Tree and Target  for bath mats, t.p.,
tissues, trash cans etc. luckily they are all right there where these apartments are. It's
so much fun to get paid to go shopping and to work on there projects.

Staging a Condo at Campus View Condos in Harrisonburg for JMU

The past two weeks I have been shopping for a JMU condo at Campus View Condos in Harrisonburg.
Because my store is a little to old ladyish, I did most of my shopping at TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning
and Pier 1. I also bought the book by Domino Magazine to help me think like a '20 something
and to add a lot of color to the project. Here are the pictures of my groupings in my living room

Now here are the pictures of the job I did today. One great room, a girls room, a boys room
and four bathrooms with to offices.

The furniture was provided by Martins Home Furnishings. I was very pleased with the out
come. I go back Monday to find out what my clients think, Matchbox People + Property.
