Fabrics for My Client

I am meeting my client in future home to pick out fabrics for the kitchen.
The cabinets have been painted a robins egg blue, the counter tops are a
blue grey soap stone and the tile are white. Oh, and to throw a wrench in it,
she picked out an apple design tile feature to hang over the stove. She said that
she wanted a leafy green pattern.

This is the first group of fabrics that I have pulled for her. I pulled the yellowish fabric out in the
bottom picture and the purple flower one in the middle picture to narrow it down.

So this is the second choice for her, I removed a few and added a few. So they were either to
big a print or too busy. Too green or too cutesie.

The pretty Beacon Hill blueish leaf embroidered pattern on white in the center of the called
Ava Vine in Surf. It the color of the cabinets and looks beautiful on the windows. We will do
a valance over the sink and a roman shade in the breakfast nook.

New Pieces for the Den

I am still working on my den. I found two new lamps for the den on Ebay.
They are a pair of beautiful Asian lamps by As You Like It, a company from the
'90's with stone fish finials and the shades are from Lowes. Big improvement from
the old Home Goods Lamps.

I replaced the heavy dark brown table topper and quilted table skirt with a lighter
cream burlap fringed table skirt from Ballard Design.

I still need to steam the wrinkles out, don't judge me! I will eventually replace the fabric
on the ottoman, these are a few choices.

 This is my favorite and the most expensive one, of coarse.

 I bought on Ebay an antique wood and bamboo collapsible book shelf for my books
and will use the white cubes for fabric samples and files. Still trying to organize the room.
Half den, half decorating office.

The last purchase was a pretty flocked pillow from Tuesday morning that I picked
up while I was on a job in Harrisonburg.

Revisiting an Old Design Project

A few years ago, I helped a client with draperies for her large floor to ceiling windows
in an old house they have been slowly renovating her in Staunton. This room is the
living room with cream walls, an oriental rug and a new cream sofa. We went with Robert
Allen's Crystal Lake in Midnight for floor to ceiling panels in the two windows. This house
has really high ceilings, so the drapes really make an impact.  My client bought two club
chairs into the room that she had from her DC home. For these chairs, we decided to go
with Schumacher's greek key pattern, Maiandros Weave in Indigo. Two small french chairs
will also be added to the room for extra seating, for these we are looking at Beacon Hill's
Monsieur cotton and silk in the color Ruby.

To add to this Chinoiserie look, we are looking at a couple of fabric options
for the big sofa. Above you see a Pierre Frey with the big pink medallions, a
Highland Court solid raspberry, a bold pink and blue Robert Allen's Sophia
Range and the new Duralee Fabric's Soskin by Tilton Fenwick with the blue, green
and white pattern.

Once the chairs are done, we will have a better idea of what fabric works best and we
can play around with shapes and sizes.

I even threw into to the group a embroidery by Schumacher and a crewel by Stout Fabrics.
I will have to post more pictures of the job when it is finished.
