Before and After of My Dining Room Chairs

While I am stuck at home, I have been going through my fabrics
that are part of my decorating business and checking prices and pulling
the ones that are no longer available. Some of these fabrics are beautiful
and can be used for any decorating project, I started grouping them in color
or print groups of five and have had great success listing them on ebay for
,99 cents. Check out my store under my name.

 In this process, I came upon a pretty chenille fabric with a water pattern, tone on tone,
and it sent me to the Robert Allen outlet website. I noticed that this fabric was also
in other colors, I loved the color frost, I needed three yards, two seats can be done with
one yard. There was 3.5 yards available, perfect, I saved an extra ten percent by buying
the entire bolt. The fabric came earlier this week and I went to town on this project. Here
is my journey.

I popped the seats out.

This is the original fabric that the chairs came in, they are Italian and came from Greenfront.
Some where there is a matching table and breakfront. they were all in my office at my old
house.

The peach fabric was chosen for my office, the leaf Larsen fabric was on my old chairs,
my ex keep them. When I switched them for the lighter chairs, I keep my fabric because
at the time I loved it, twenty years later, it was time for a change.

 Here is the fabric, can you see the pattern, it is very subtle pattern. I went to
Walmart and got a off white muslin to cover the original fabric on the seats before
I put the new fabric on so that the colors would not bleed through. I was affraid to
remove the original cover because I wasn't sure what was underneath it.

Everyone must be sewing because the fabric section was whipped out.
So here is the before and after, sorry the before is a little blurry. But what a difference
it makes, the room is so much lighter and brighter.

What is Happening in My Life in Quarantine

While I am stuck at home and not spending any money, I had an
upholstery project I started before all this craziest stuff started. I got
a text that my chair was ready for pickup. So last Friday i went and picked
my chair up. Here is the before and after.

I found this chair back in the fall and I love this Robert Allen fabric so this chair is
the perfect project for this. The trim is also from Robert Allen and it is beautiful. So are you
ready for the big reveal?
AFTER:

Isn't she a beauty, the perfect pairing for this chair. Another project I had started before the
lock down was a Safavieh rug i bought on line from Target when they had a really good
rug sale. Here is a picture of my old rug that i bought a couple of years ago, it was too small.

When the rug arrived, it was so heavy and so big that it had to stay in my back hall
until I could phone a friend to help me get it upstairs. Once it was upstairs, I had to
completely take my bedroom apart to get it down. There was so much dust under my
bed. This was quite the project, but the results were worth it. So pretty!

Before and After of the Big Lots Ottoman

Years ago I bought an ottoman at Big Lots for me old den three houses ago.
This room was huge and long and it could handle a big ottoman In this little
den in my farmhouse, but it is needed. The ottoman is my home office, my desk
and my catch all. When I first bought it, I had it upholstered in a jewel tone Waverly
fabric that went with the look I was doing in this room.

I also painted the legs, which I touched up before it went to the upholsterer. The print
was to busy for the room and the light weight fabric was worn in spots. I wanted a rich
green velvet for a new cover and bought this fabric from Robert Allen almost a year ago
with the intention of finding a matching trim.

  I put the project off because I didn't know what I would do with out my ottoman. Where
would all my things go. I finally bight the bullet and started looking for a trim that would
work with the fabric. I found this trim on the Robert Allen Outlet site and fell in love with it.

I took my Italian gold stack tables from my guest room and used them as a make shift
ottoman while my piece was gone.

The chair I bought a couple of weeks ago at the Stuarts Draft Antique Mall and thought it
could be used to prop my feet up on because it is low and I am a sucker for any thing hand
carved, black and gold and any kind slipper chair.

 So here is the finished piece all done in less than a month. Love it.

And look what I found while walking downtown today at the Beverley Street Co-Op Art Gallery,

this sweet little painting of some goats called "Browsing" by local artist Christine Watts.

New Projects for the End of the Year

I went over to Ross Stores to get a large marbleized tray that I had seen to help organize
my work station/ my den were I do most of my decorating work and my Ebay selling. I also
found the cute little Lucite tray to organize my pens and scissors.

It is time to reupholster and paint this ottoman that I bought from Big lots years ago. The fabric I
found on Robert Allen's Outlet and now I need to find 4 1/2 yards of trim to go with it. And speaking
of upholstering, I had my upholster, Marvin Courtney of Courtney's Upholstery, redo this pretty
Martha Washington Chair I bought from a thrift store in a vintage toile fabric I bought from a vendor
at QCM.

This is my fabric stash that desperately needs organizing, my daughter says that it makes
me look like a hoarder and I finally found a shade at Ross, a Style Craft Shade, for my brass
lamp so that I can list it for sale.

Last thing to write about and this is a big one.

I sold this book on Ebay today and I wanted to see where it is going and the name of the buyer
is Eddie Ross, shipping to Pennsylvania to EddieRossLLC, what? Is this the famous Eddie Ross
the decorator, I had to Google Eddie Ross LLC to find out. I was right, I just sold my book to the
dercorator Eddie Ross, I have followed him like forever. This made my day.

Pretty In Pink Drapery Installation

I have finally finished the living room I was working on in Stuarts Draft.
I meet with the client in the Spring to talk about what they wanted to do.
Picked out the colors, fabrics and waited for the painted to come in, he was
booked till August. Had the chair seats reupholstered, ordered the fabric and
trim, the trim was on back order for 17 weeks, yes 17 weeks! Ordered beautiful
hardware, installed that in September and Friday we hung the drapes. One job done!
The results are stunning, so here is the before and after......

This is what the room looked before, straight up 1990's decor. The walls had been
sponged, there is a wallpaper border and it was dark and cramped. The rug is beautiful
and I used it as my inspiration. The clients wanted to make the room appear bigger, let
more light in and bring it to a more current look.

We painted the walls a Benjamin Moore Shell Pink and painted all the wood white,
put in a chair rail and framed out the bottom portion of the room. It made the room
bigger and brighter.

Here is Donna hanging the panels after we put the Duralee hardware up. What a big
difference. I couldn't get a full picture, to many people in the room, me, Donna and the
clients.

Here is a close up of the main products, the top herringbone is the seat cushions on the dining
room chairs is from Stout, the silk tone on tone floral and pink ball fringe is from  Robert Allen with
the B. M. shell pink paint color. Next, new chandelier. I help them with their kitchen after the new year.
