I finished another painting I copied from a picture posted on Facebook. It is a
sunset reflected in a pond.
I made two lumbar pillows with discontinued fabric samples, one a Rose Cummings and
another is a Kravet. Love the elephant.
And yesterday, I rearranged my spaces to get ready for spring. It was time for a fresh look,
plus two new upholstered chairs came in.
Last but not least, here are the newly upholstered chairs that finely came in, before they
were in a crushed orange velvet, you can see them in previous picture in my den. My ex
said they looked like they came out of a trailer park. Ha! Now they are in a Magnolia Home
Fabric and my upholsterer forgot to skirt them.
Happy March!

Little Kennon's Wedding at Norwood in Powhatan
Earlier in June I attended my nephew Kennon's wedding
at our family home "Norwood" in Powhatan Virginia.
This home has been in our family since the 1800's. My mother grew up her here
and now it is the home of my aunt. Connie.
It has an English Basement, we used to ride our tricycles around this when we were little.
Here is a picture of the reception tent in the backyard.
The seating area for the nuptials, Kennon is the first of the little cousins to get married.
This is a picture of the back porch were I spent wonderful evenings with my
Grandparents.
Four generations of my family attended Easter Egg hunts in these gardens.
The house and land run all the way to the James River, you can see part of the Luck
Stone Quarry on the other side of the river in Goochland.
If you look closely, you can see the horses in the field. I posted more pictures on
Instagram and Facebook.

Duncan Phyfe Sofa Before and After and a Birthday Celebration
A couple of months ago I bought an antique
Duncan Phyfe Sofa to redo.
I found a neutral fabric in a tan and white Greek Key cotton. And had the sofa
reupholstered. see the end results.....
Isn't she a beauty?
Last Sunday my sister and I took my Mom out to Barren Ridge Vineyards
to celebrate her birthday. It was a beautiful day, we did a tasting, Mom's
husband Ted joined us and we had wine and food on the terrace.
I got into trouble for posting these pictures on Facebook with Mom's age. Oh well,
embrace life and your age. i am 53!

The Vintage Home Market and Two Freebie Upholstered Chairs
Margaret McElroy's shop is hitting the road. I am taking my shop to The Vintage Home
Market at Richmond's Raceway this spring on May 3rd and 4th. It is my son, Edmund's,
18th birthday and I will be staying with him and his dad for this event. I am hoping that my
daughter, Ellie, can help with the market. I sold a couple of big pieces recently, so, with the
floor space opening up, I decided to set up a mock up of my market booth.
I signed up for a 10' x 10' space and I measured it out on the floor and taped the corners
so that I would have an idea of how much space I will have. I am using two folding screens
to create walls, I want to take some of my nicer pieces.
I am borrowing a friends van and dolly, and I plan on taking back up pieces to sell if I
end up doing well on Saturday and need more stuff. It has been years since I did the antique
malls, I really just don't know what to expect.
I know this event is weeks away, but I just have to plan ahead. I am thinking of things I
need to take 24/7, tissue, bags, an inventory list, packing material, my square, cash box,
sales books, etc. I also will take our antique guide to Staunton, in hope of raising awareness
of all the great antique shops here and the great prices we have. So if you are around Richmond
on the weekend of the show, stop by and say high!
And I just got two chairs back from the upholsterer, these chairs were freebies. I used fabric
that I had on hand and had them redone. They look great!
I am slowly getting the store freshened up for Spring and Summer. I also have been posting
some very funny old pictures on facebook if you are a friend, you can see them. This is what
happens when you learn how to use your scanner on the printer. Happy Thursday.

Snow Days, Are We Done Yet?
How many days till Spring?
I dug my way out of the house yesterday to come
down and dig out the sidewalk in front of my store
and The SPACE. I walked down with a neighbor, ran
into another friend walking his dog and called a friend,
client and board member to come and help shovel. We
discussed using some furniture from my store in the SPACE,
looked at fabric samples for her living room, not a bad snow
day!
I need to invest in a good pair of snow boots. My car is stuck behind my house
and it will be Sunday before it makes it out of the driveway. I have items to deliver
to the UPS store. Any way, yesterday afternoon, a friend came by the store, and we
drove around town looking at the damage. We put his car in the garage downtown and
started walking to fine something open, we ended up at Baja Bean and spent the afternoon
eating salsa, guacamole and chips, drinking margaritas and shots of tequila. After that we
ended at Zynoda for wine and dirty Martini's.
Today is another story, the storm that almost completely shut down the
city of Staunton, has passed. Now we are in a melting mess. What a
difference a day makes. Back to work and reality. Happy Valentines
Day everyone!
A plus to all those people who posted great snow pictures on Facebook!
