New Design Project

This is a project hat I started last year in November. The client's guest room has bedding in
the colors of coral and yellows, she asked me to find her a silk in these warm colors and
we picked this Duralee Fabric which came from a company called James Hare from the UK
and just arrived months after we ordered it. I drew up a flat roman for the windows and she
asked me to pick a trim for the bottom of the shade, I went with the Kravet Smart ball fringe
in Dune to go with the Orissa Silk in Hibiscus. I know these drapes will be stunning in the room.

Shopping The Shops and an Ice Storm

Recently I have been trying to sell more of my stuff. I have purged my dressing room,
cleaned out closets and emptied my storage boxes. As I have written before, I have antique
spaces at The Staunton Antique Center were I sell things large and small, some things I
have re purposed and a lot of it I also sell online.

My Ebay shop is listed under ,mmcelroy313, and  have listed more than 100 items, it is

a little bit of everything from my shops to my closet.

The Thibaut wallpaper book I no longer use, the egg plate sold this

week to a teacher in upstate New York and the jewelry was in a jewelry box

I bought on Ebay. 

Vintage Ralph Lauren blazer I bought on Etsy, a dining room table I bought

from a neighbor, and yes the picture was taken in my dining room and a

group of discontinued fabric samples from Kravet.

I also have several items listed on my Etsy shop, a little over 30 items, under my

name, Margaret McElroy, were you can list anything vintage, self made, including

clothing. Here are a few things from my shop.

And on a last note, we had a cold snap come through late Wednesday night, I

could hear the ice cycles hit my roof into the morning. As the storm got worse, this is what fell in my back yard.

  Limbs fell everywhere, exposing the top of the trees and even a large nest. Now we clean

New Painting, Pillows and a Floor Move for My Spaces

I finished another painting I copied from a picture posted on Facebook. It is a
sunset reflected in a pond.

I made two lumbar pillows with discontinued fabric samples, one a Rose Cummings and
another is a Kravet. Love the elephant. 

And yesterday, I rearranged my spaces to get ready for spring. It was time for a fresh look,
plus two new upholstered chairs came in.

 Last but not least, here are the newly upholstered chairs that finely came in, before they
were in a crushed orange velvet, you can see them in previous picture in my den. My ex
said they looked like they came out of a trailer park. Ha! Now they are in a Magnolia Home
Fabric and my upholsterer  forgot to skirt them.

More Decorating on the New Den

I have been working on the new den and I had a major installation in
Richmond last week.

I installed these drapes and valance in Richmond last week. This is a client and friend
that I helped with her old house on Park Avenue which sold and now they have moved
to a retirement community. I had to attach the valance board together in order to transport it to
Richmond and then staple the valance fabric onto the board.

My sister and her son came over to Marilyn's to help me hang the draperies, the fabrics are
Kravet and Schumacher with Robert Allen and Schumacher trims. The bedroom also had to
be attached on the boards and the valance had to be stapled on, quite the job.

I have been working on the new den since I moved or switched the den guest room around.
My old sofa was too big to come up the stairs so I was stuck with the two old orange chairs
that are in need of a recover. With a coupon from Wayfair and free delivery, I ordered a new
small settee that would fit in the room and a new larger rug.

  I am now thinking about new pillows, maybe redoing the ottoman and a new table
skirt. It is never ending, you can see the old orange chairs in the corner on their way
out for reupholstering. Happy New Year!
