New Decorating Job

I have a new decorating job that has been in the works since
this summer. This is a client of mine that I helped with her old
house a few years ago. She has since purchases a new house in
downtown Staunton, a historic Victorian house on New Street.
The first part of this house is working on the two units in the back
that are now two Airbnb rentals. We were working on these while
the house was being renovated, so it all came together as the house was
being finished. The first one has a blue and white theme and  I got to
use one of my favorite fabrics by Schumacher, a beautiful toile called
Birds of Paradise, for the curtains.
The Airbnb is called the Labrador Manor and these are the pictures of the listing online.
I forgot to take pictures when I was there. The second rooms were done in Stouts Flicks3
in grey.

I think these back two rooms were at one point servant rooms with double back
porches and separate entrances.

The next rooms will be done soon, one of the fabrics is on back order. If you want
to see more of the house, check out the listing.

More Decorating on the New Den

I have been working on the new den and I had a major installation in
Richmond last week.
I installed these drapes and valance in Richmond last week. This is a client and friend
that I helped with her old house on Park Avenue which sold and now they have moved
to a retirement community. I had to attach the valance board together in order to transport it to
Richmond and then staple the valance fabric onto the board.

My sister and her son came over to Marilyn's to help me hang the draperies, the fabrics are
Kravet and Schumacher with Robert Allen and Schumacher trims. The bedroom also had to
be attached on the boards and the valance had to be stapled on, quite the job.
I have been working on the new den since I moved or switched the den guest room around.
My old sofa was too big to come up the stairs so I was stuck with the two old orange chairs
that are in need of a recover. With a coupon from Wayfair and free delivery, I ordered a new
small settee that would fit in the room and a new larger rug.

I am now thinking about new pillows, maybe redoing the ottoman and a new table
skirt. It is never ending, you can see the old orange chairs in the corner on their way
out for reupholstering. Happy New Year!

F. Schumacher & Company and Timothy Corrigan

Yesterday I got a large package via UPS from F. Schumacher & Co.
I have a wonderful rep who surprised me with the mother load of beautiful
new fabric samples. The colors, patterns and textures are out of this world

They were so pretty that I decided to spread them out on the camel
back sofa and guess who decided to photo bomb my picture. Hey,
this looks like a cozy spot, right in the middle of Mom's picture.

Some of these samples are designed by the decorator, Timothy Corrigan  and come
in several color ways.

The prices start at $80.00 a yard and go up. I cannot wait to use some of theses
prints and patterns. Just Beautiful!

Revisiting an Old Design Project

A few years ago, I helped a client with draperies for her large floor to ceiling windows
in an old house they have been slowly renovating her in Staunton. This room is the
living room with cream walls, an oriental rug and a new cream sofa. We went with Robert
Allen's Crystal Lake in Midnight for floor to ceiling panels in the two windows. This house
has really high ceilings, so the drapes really make an impact.  My client bought two club
chairs into the room that she had from her DC home. For these chairs, we decided to go
with Schumacher's greek key pattern, Maiandros Weave in Indigo. Two small french chairs
will also be added to the room for extra seating, for these we are looking at Beacon Hill's
Monsieur cotton and silk in the color Ruby.

To add to this Chinoiserie look, we are looking at a couple of fabric options
for the big sofa. Above you see a Pierre Frey with the big pink medallions, a
Highland Court solid raspberry, a bold pink and blue Robert Allen's Sophia
Range and the new Duralee Fabric's Soskin by Tilton Fenwick with the blue, green
and white pattern.

Once the chairs are done, we will have a better idea of what fabric works best and we
can play around with shapes and sizes.
I even threw into to the group a embroidery by Schumacher and a crewel by Stout Fabrics.
I will have to post more pictures of the job when it is finished.
